ECU Film Festival 2011
ECU The European Independent Film Festival returns for its sixth year, putting the spotlight once again on independent cinema.
This year, an astonishing 77 films from 26 countries will be showcased during the festival, including several world premieres, which takes place in Paris from the 1st to the 3rd of April 2011.
In a world that is increasingly dominated by major studio-backed films and mass-marketed movies, ECU The European Independent Film Festival demonstrates its commitment to providing talented, independent filmmakers from Europe and beyond a platform to be discovered, seen and promoted.
While the primary focus of the festival is European independent cinema, out of the twelve award categories films are competing for, four are allocated to foreign films from other continents, with entries from as far as South America and Oceania. On top of the usual festivities, there are also workshops throughout the festival, ranging from scriptwriting to acting, conducted by some of the most talented professionals in the industry. This gives the public a chance to get into filmmaking and for the enthusiasts to hone their craft.
ECU The European Independent Film Festival is being presided by Scott Hillier, a Paris-based Australian filmmaker who served as the Director of Photography on the Academy Award winning documentary, ‘Twin Towers’ in 2003.
“The European Independent festival has proved to be a true breakthrough for Indie Filmmakers in Europe. ÉCU 2011 offers European independent filmmakers the chance to screen their films to an audience hungry for high-quality independent films, exposes them to other independent filmmaker’s work and gives them a forum to exchange ideas with other filmmakers. I believe that all of this will help them a great deal in their future filmmaking ventures,” Hillier explains.
Project CineMaas is excited to kick off our research with an immersion at ECU The European Independent Film Festival 2011.
